Even though some of them admit to having been influenced toward Christianity by his fiction, we can’t “accept his fantasies or his ‘universalism’.” You’re also right about many other very good thinkers and Bible scholars whose works are rejected by much of today’s church because it doesn’t fit their King James mold, their past narrow teaching, their own narrowness of mind and thinking. By extension, we who think those scholars are right, or at least have something to shed light on our understanding, are deemed heretics as well, and may not have any teaching or influencing position in the church.

We often miss the point of His truly awesome love for us in coming in flesh; dying for the restoration of our relationship with Him, after living his perfect life under the same imperfect circumstances we live ours in; and then rising in Glory, leaving His Spirit, and planning His return as our bridegroom when His kingdom is fully restored to this Earth!
